Passages of Tucson

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

The Passages of Tucson is a planned retail and residential complex in Southeast Tucson/Vail, AZ. One of the developers is credited with making the Mall of America happen in Minnesota. The plans are too grand to list in detail here, but some of the highlights include a water park, lots of retail, homes, apartments, health club, office space, and much more. The development will include 97 acres for Cienega Creek Village and 278 acres for the Passages of Tucson. Cienega Creek will be located a few miles from Rancho Del Lago and Rita Ranch. Passages of Tucson will be just off I-10 near I-83, east of Wentworth. Could this be the signal for Tucson’s future growth direction?

Gotta Love the Gekkards!

Saturday, March 19th, 2005

So what the heck is a Gekkard? Gekkards are small lizard-like creatures drawn by artist, Joey Welsh. My wife and I first discovered the Gekkards at the 4th Avenue Street Fair (here in Tucson, Arizona) last year.

Here is one of the prints we bought last year:
Gekkards by Joey Welsh

Joey does these drawings with colored pencils, and I have to admit I really love these little guys. I’m writing about the Gekkards now because my wife went to the Street Fair yesterday, and we are now the proud owners of five different Gekkard drawings. I’m sure we’ll be adding more soon. Please visit Joey’s Website if you’d like to learn more about them, or buy some for yourself.
